Mesmerising: a Wedding and a Fantastic Piano – Maison Talbooth

The gorgeous Maison Talbooth in Essex is one of my favourite venues. It’s a long drive away from my base in High Wycombe, but it’s worth it – because of the always-can-do positive attitude of the staff, the beautiful grand Bluthner grand piano they keep in gorgeous working order, and the spotlessly clean and relaxing environment in which a small wedding gathering can take place.

I was there again this week for the beautiful wedding of Emma and Darren, who found me through this website and made contact with a few weeks to go, aware that that beautiful grand piano really dominates the hotel. Walk in to the lobby and you can’t miss it!

Darren and Emma asked me to play for their wedding ceremony and drinks reception. My music could be heard throughout, even when they stepped outside with their photographer to the courtyard outside.

Emma walked into Pachelbel’s Canon – a popular choice among music-savvy brides as they know the music can finish at exactly the right moment because of the way it is written. She and Darren signed the register to John Legend’s All of Me and Always by Bon Jovi. And hers was an unusual choice to exit to: Van Halen’s Jump, which had particular personal meaning for them as husband and wife.
